Fix #1 — Unplugging it.

Try unplugging your computer for 30 minutes. It resets all computer chips, and also frees space in memory. Connect it again and observe if receive a message on your screen that tells you what’s wrong right now. If not, go to step 2.

Fix #2 — Clearing the Paper Jams

Check for jammed papers by looking beneath, behind and within every printer tray. If you’re still receiving an error message Try removing the stuck paper, and then press OK or Resume to continue printing. Be sure to not remove your cartridges for your printer in these steps.

Fix #3 — Cleaning the Scanner Glass

Place your WF-3640 on the flat surface, then turn it. There are five screws that secure an panel on the bottom of your printer. You can remove those screws (keeping the track of the location they’re located) and then slowly remove the panel.

Fix #4 — Dumping Ink

The most common thing you see over and over on forums from those who have fixed error code 0x97. The reason is that replacing cartridges with ink, even if they’re not empty, will solve error code zero 97. I decided to test it as my 3 other cartridges failed, and it did the trick for me too!
